lemon bay
salty green waves

stop sign in hand
came over
stuck his head
in my window
“where have you
been all my life?”
i said “in Venice.”
kewpie doll harbinger
my friend jenny
saw the look
on my face
“you been struck
by lightning girl”
so we made
a date
the paradise lounge
in port charlotte
there was
dancing
laughter and love
“young love,
first love,
filled with true
devotion...”
i was sixteen
he was
twenty-one
